How Odoo 16 Rental Module Works?

We have a new version of Odoo. Users switched to Odoo 16 from Odoo 15 edition. They are mesmerized by the exceptional features of each module of Odoo 16. Every module has unique functionality as compared to the previous version, which will benefit small and mid-sized businesses. 

Equipment plays a significant role in small manufacturing businesses. Buying expensive equipment is not easy for small firms. Thus, they need a system to make this process pretty much easier. Odoo Rental module is the perfect suit to manage your rental operations in an organized manner. 

In this blog, we give you an insight into how Odoo 16 Rental module works. 

First of all, open the dashboard and go to the Rental module as shown in the screenshot given below.


Once you enter the Rental module, you will find a number of rental orders created so far. Here, you have the Kanban, List, Calendar, Pivot, and finally Graph view. 

You can use the Calendar view to set it as DAY, WEEK, MONTH, and YEAR as displayed in the screenshot given below. 



Inside the Graph view, you have the Bar chart, Pie chart, and Line chart. Only the Bar chart and Pie chart allow you to set the view in ascending and descending order as displayed in the screenshot given below. 

At the left side of the window, you can see two menus "RENTAL STATUS" and "INVOICE STATUS". You can filter it based on rental status and invoice status as shown in the screenshot given below. 



How To Create A Rental Order?

Now it's time to create a new rental order. Click on the CREATE button as shown below. 

Here, you have the rental order creation form, which is very similar to the sale order. Choose the customer name as shown in the screenshot given below.

Now, add a product under the Product field. But remember, you can add the rental product only otherwise it is considered a sale order. You can also set the quantity.

A new wizard will pop up where you can add the start and end date to validate. The due date will be calculated based on the start date and end.


As displayed in the screenshot, click on the ADD button to add your rental product.


Now, you can see here, your product has been added. Finally, you need to confirm it. 

How To Make Payment?

In the new window, you have two options "CREATE INVOICE" and "PICK UP". So first you can create an invoice and then pick your product.

Click on the CREATE INVOICE. You have three types of invoices given inside the create invoice section. Now click on the CREATE AND VIEW INVOICE as shown in the screenshot given below.


Now, confirm it to proceed further as displayed below.



Then, select the REGISTER PAYMENT to make the payment as displayed below.

You are taken to a wizard where you need to click on the CREATE PAYMENT button. 


Here, you can see that your payment has been done successfully.
